Real-Time PCR Detection of DNA Extracted from Pneumocystis with MycXtra™

MycXtra^TM extracts DNA from Pneumocystis jirovecii in clinical samples.

DNA was extracted from 57 samples in which Pneumocystis had been reported by microscopy, and was detected in 54 of them. Pneumocystis DNA was detected by Real-Time PCR using the FXG^TM : RESP (Asp +) kit. A Ct of >38.5 indicates DNA was not detected in the sample

Detectable DNA can be reproducibly extracted from Aspergillus spores using the MycXtra^TM kit.

Over 10 independent extractions were performed on dilutions of Aspergillus spores. Detectable DNA was extracted from samples containing fewer than 10 spores. Aspergillus DNA was detected using the FXG^TM : RESP (Asp +) kit.
